Beheaded? Is there an explanation why? or where they made that way?...
From what I understand, during the french revolution, the peasants got all riled up and became convinced that the statues weren't actually saints, but members of the nobility, and since the revoltution was about euqality, they got pissed off and beheaded them, just like poor Louis and Marie-Antoinette.

well maybe it wasn't the peasants, maybe it was the bourgoisie, I can't remember - the guided tour was like 2 years ago, geez. :P
